The Geographical Institute Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences Hungarian Academy of Sciences (GI RCAES HAS) and The National Academy of Sciences Ukraine (NAS) conduct a joint research titled Regional processes and global challenges following 2008 crisis in Ukraine and Hungary.
The research is carried out in the framework of a bilateral agreement between the two academic institutions and is carried out between 2016-2018. Between 26th-29th September, 2016 two researchers from GI RCAES HAS Ágnes Erőss és Katalin Kovály travelled to Kiev for a short visit. Researchers of GI RACES HAS paid visit in the Geographical Institute of NAS, where they met Leonid Grigorivich Rudenko, director of the institute, Yevheniya Oleksandrivna Maruniak scientific secretary and Artem Anatoliyovich Mozhoviy research fellow. The exciting scientific programme was thoroughly organized and professionally led by Grygorii Petrovich Pidgrushnyi, director of Department of Social Geography Institute of Geography NAS and Yurii Dmitrovich Ishchenko junior research fellow in the same research unit. During the intense three day, partners discussed on-going research and drafted major points and directions of future joint studies.
Researchers of Geographical Institute participated in a round table discussion with colleagues working in scientific laboratory called Regional problems of economics and politics operating in Faculty of Geography at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The event was organized by Kostyantyn Mezentsev, Head of Department of Economic and Social Geography. Topics of the discussion touched upon recent urban developments in Kyiv and Budapest, actual social processes and challenges the two countries are facing.
